Showcase Director, Digital Common Sense: French VR Showcase/Executive Director, ET@T

VR creations explored through techno-art

Virtual Art Hub (VA Hub), launched in the summer of 2020 by ET@T and Digital Art Foundation (DAF), is located in Taipei City. Covering an area of 300 pings, VA Hub enjoys nearly 50 pings of exhibition space. Stationed in the Hub are teams incubated by DAF that include Solid Memory, a 3D-scanning company, and Telling Tent, a technical children’s theater. VA Hub embodies the production and application of 3D digital models, aiming at providing an environment conducive to digital archiving and projects in the media and entertainment industry. In addition, in terms of the possibility of integrating technology with performance and sensory experiences, VA Hub is devoted to content production and technology development centering around live performance and viewer participation.

Establishing Digital Art Center, Taiwan (DAC.tw) in 2018, DAF started its expedition in VR through techno-art in an array of approaches. On the one hand, as panoramic videos become more prevalent, DAF made use of 360 photography to tap into aesthetics in digital art from an all-knowing viewing perspective. Meanwhile, DAF, as the organizer of VR projects in terms of production and exhibition, rolled out Concept Museum of Art, seeking and compiling possible solutions to integrating techno-art into digital archiving and new areas in extended reality. In the same year, ET@T joined hands with Shou-Yuo Liu, a renowned theater director/actor/dancer in producing Archive or Alive: Digital Archiving Development of a Solo Dance by Shou-Yuo Liu. The project featured a form of performing art with digital files processed using multi-channel 360VR, while panoramic photography was also used to create an immersive experience where viewers at the built scenes feel like they are at real-world settings.

Past events

As a base for the creation of technological and immersive arts, including the ones using virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and mixed reality (MR), VA Hub has rolled out exhibitions including Ayahuasca- The Shamanic Exhibition, the opening exhibition for VA Hub in 2020 and Throbbing: Modulating Fujui Wang and Digital Common Sense: French VR Showcase in 2021.
